The Plains Coal Mine biome is a early game specific mine, which holds Coal and Copper Ore.
It is most likely the first mine a player will encounter, being held in the grassland (Not to be confused with the Novice Grassland.) and having few easily killed creatures. It is also the best source of copper when you first get to the Metallurgy skill set.
